Hulu

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007 | Author: Reggie

Yesterday I finally received my invitation to hulu.com.  I remember signing up for this a couple of months ago and I was starting to think I would never hear back from them.  What this site allows you to do is watch TV shows and movies.  They’ve got a pretty good selection of shows right now.  Shows from NBC,FOX, as well as others, both currently running and classic are available.  Navigating the site is pretty simple and easy to find what to watch.  The quality of the video was pretty good and I only ran into a buffering issue once in the 3 or 4 shows I’ve watched this far.  Right now the site is free which is good but you do have to sit through some ads when watching a show.  I was viewing the site in linux so the video player would not let me do full screen, so I was a bit disappointed by that.  Overall I was pretty impressed with the site and it’s nice to be able to catch up on some of the shows I’ve missed.  I don’t think this site will catch on with most people though cause they can’t watch the videos on their TV, only on their computer.

“I’m ready for my close up Mr. DeVille!”

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007 | Author: Reggie

Well I got to be on the local news here in Reno yesterday.  They were doing a small segment on Windows Vista, which is being officially released today.  It was nothing spectacular but it was cool to see myself on TV.  I was interviewed for about 5 minutes or so.   They just asked me a little about my thoughts on Vista.  Only about a minute of the interview aired but hey that’s 1 more minute than most people get.  This is the first time I’ve ever done anything like this.  I have to say that I wasn’t really nervous but when I watched the segment I think it looked a bit like I was.

I will try and get a copy of the segment on the blog here as soon as I can if I can.  It might possibly be on the station’s website.  The link is as followed.

I thought this was a pretty funny comercial. There seems to be some doubt as to wheither or not this is fake or not but it’s good for a chuckle either way. One thing I did notice is the guy that is playing the “Kung Lao” character is a chinese actor that I’ve recognized from some of Jackie Chan’s older films. I don’t know his name but I believe he a pretty well know chinese comedic actor.

Now this isn’t something new on the net but it’s a good laugh once in awhile when you need one.

Here are some facts about Chuck Norris you may not have known.

In the old Transformers cartoon, there were the Dino-bots.  The Dino-bots were of course based off of dinosaurs.  Something that struck me the other day was this…the Dino-bots were not very smart.  Now how is this possible?   The Dino-bots were machines, robots if you will.   If this is the case, why didn’t the other Auto-bots just put a better brain in them?  I mean they could build spaceships and rebuild themselves and all these other great things but they could not program the Dino-bots to be smarter.  I’m sure they could have gone to CompUSA or whereever and gotten a better CPU for these guys.

RetroJunk Frappr Map

Wednesday, December 21st, 2005 | Author: Reggie

Well I’m a fan of the website RetroJunk and I’ve been pretty active on the forums there so I thought it would be nice to create a Frappr map so that we can all see where everyone else is at.

Just in case you didn’t know, RetroJunk is a website about all things retro. Mostly TV, movies, and games but they cover everything. I really enjoy the forums and the community is certainly fill with some cool people. The community there kinda reminds me of my old IRC days where people you chatted with were cool to talk to and not just dumb freaks looking for cybersex.

Man beams down 5000 channels from 12 satellite dishes on front porch!

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005 | Author: Reggie

Al Jessup from Beckley, has more than 5000 TV & radio channels from the 12 dishes on his front porch, you gotta see the pic of this!

I can hardly believe that anyone would want to do this. I guess when you can’t find anything to watch, you just add more channels. I think I’ll stick to the few of shows I watch off of bittorrent.

AOL says ‘Welcome back’ to old TV shows

Monday, November 14th, 2005 | Author: Reggie

America Online early next year will begin offering free access to popular older television shows through video-on-demand under an agreement with Warner Bros., another division of Time Warner.

Also you can check out this link

AOL and WB team up for old TV shows online.

I think is pretty cool. I would really like to see an increase in online content and perhaps we will one day have like an a la carte style television experience where we only pay for the TV shows we want to see and not all the other garbarge that is on TV right now.
